About Us

Since 2001, the online academic journal for Buffy studies, Slayage, has solicited and hosted articles and essays on the show; the site currently contains almost 200 pieces. Aren't you jealous? Wouldn't you like that for Bad Girls?

We would.

As hardcore media watchers, die-hard Bad Girls fans, and inveterate readers, we naturally sought out critical materials about the show after viewing it, in the hopes of further exploring and understanding it. We were astonished (and rather appalled) to find almost nothing existed. We still find this difficult to understand, when so many other acclaimed and beloved television shows seem to generate an endless sea of critical writings. Surely Bad Girls deserves similar attention? This website is an effort to begin to redress that omission.

Submissions

If you've ever considered writing your own essay, however brief, on a topic in Bad Girls that interests you, we'd encourage you to do so. Please send them to us with a brief summary of subject matter.  We began these pieces without any ultimate goal around sharing them with a larger internet audience: they were simply for our own interest. Many have been posted on our favorite Bad Girls forum in modified form. We created the website in hopes they'd spur others on to similar efforts.

Submissions needn't be from academics or especially formal in style or tone. We'd just like to hear your thoughts about the meaning of the show; themes explored in the scripts; character development; technical aspects of Bad Girls; or any topic which you think might give us a better understanding of the show. We can't post everything people send us, but we'll put up as much as we can which contributes to the mission of the site. We may send submissions back with suggestions for revisions and then post the revised version.  We also reserve the right to edit submissions in consultation with the author.
